Newberg, OR - The Wildcats wrapped up their regular season with a 4th place finish for the lady 'Cats and a 7th place finish for the men. Sophomore Jake Mihelich won male track athlete of the meet claiming the event title in his signature event, the 400m, runner up in the 200m, and helped both relays make the podium claiming 3rd place finishes in the 4X100m and 4X400m relays. He set the meet record in the 400m with a time of 47.81 seconds.
Sophomore Kennedy Johnson finished runner up in the triple jump and transfer Dallas Fagen finished third in the pole vault. Other male point scorers include Steven Holland (400m, 4X400m, and high jump), Chad Linnerooth (1500), Hayden Davisson (pole vault), Eric Igbinoba (triple jump), Jeff Lieder (shot put), Tim Pang (discus), Morgunn Ewing (javelin), and Chris Beresford (javelin).
Senior Ellie Schmidt was the women's side greatest producer of points with third place finishes in the 100m and the 200m, a 2nd place finish in the 4X100m relay, and a 5th place finish in the 4X400m relay. Other highlights include second place finishes from senior Kate Shear (javelin), sophomore Dallas Edge (100m hurdles), and freshman Olivia Bannerott (heptathlon).
Madison Gladding, Kaelia Neil, Emma Knudson, and Brooke Niemann were some other key performances.
The 'Cats had a lot of 9th and 10th place finishers just barley missing out on points. The Wildcats were missing several key athletes due to unfortunate injuries. But all and all a better performance than last year with a bright future ahead.
