Portland, OR - The Wildcat women won the Lewis and Clark Spring Break Open the men finished 2nd adding 5 NWC qualifying marks and produced 54 top 8 finishers. Sophomore Jake Mihelich ran a 47.24s in the 400m, which is the fastest 400 time since 2013 in Division III which earned him the national honor of DIII track athlete of the week. The Wildcats totaled 5 event wins include Ellie Schmidt in the 100m and 200m, Mihelich in the 400m, Kennedy Johnson in triple jump, and the men's 4X400 relay.
Second place finishers for the 'Cats included Kaelia Neal in the 5000m, Madison Gladding in the 100m Hurdles, Brooke Niemannn in the 3000m Steeplechase, Patricia Reeves in High Jump, and Manuel Finley in the 800m.
After the first three meets of the outdoor season, the Wildcats have 45 qualifying marks for the NWC Championship meet in April with plenty of potential to qualify more athletes. Before the break, head coach Travis Olson repeatedly reminded the team that although spring break has the word "break" in it, it should not be treated as such for those who wish to continue to improve and succeed.
